- encryption is useless if you do NOT have a comprehensive computer and data security policy
- encryption is useless if you use an "easy to guess" pass phrase
- encryption is useless if the computer left your secure office environment
- encryption is useless if the computers are not connected with ssh/ssl connectivity
- encryption is useless if data was sent/received on the wire in clear text BEFORE it is encrypted
- encryption is useless if data was sent/received on the wire in clear text AFTER it is decrypted
- encryption is useless if data is stored on disks, usb sticks, laptops or anywhere else in clear text
- encryption is useless if there is a keyboard logger on the computer used to encrypt the data
- encryption is useless if anyone has easy physical access to the computer
- encryption is useless if the encryption/decryption keys are mismanaged/outsourced
